I’m either lifting my Tacoma and getting new bro truck wheels and tires, or buying a new bass boat. What should I do?
I’ll probably end up doing both to be honest.
I’ll be doing the same setup as this truck, except more offset and slightly different wheels.

Boat! More useful plus early mornings on the water.

Buy the boat.

Please don’t pick generic brotruck wheels.(black, fake beadlock, yuge lip, anything les Schwab sells)

Go both! If I wasn’t as land locked as I am, I’d get a boat, as I miss being on the water. I’m hoping in a year or so to pick up either some SCS wheels, or some TRD fake bead locks, or something along those lines.
Good to see you posting, looks like you’re enjoying the Taco.

If it were me I’d probably blow unnecessary amounts of money on a Camburg suspension kit and pretend I had a sweet prerunner.

Unless you are going off road and need the clearance, leave it stock height. Lifting will degrade your on road experience. Get the boat or didn’t Toyota make a TRD supercharger for that engine?

I’m gonna be honest, I was raised with generic bro truck wheels around and I kinda like them.

I kinda like SCS wheels but they’re expensive.
![]() 12/31/2017 at 17:25 |

I’m going for lots of offset and fake beadlock haha.
![]() 12/31/2017 at 17:26 |

I really like the TRD fake beadlocks but they’re kinda dated looking to me.
I love fishing and being on the water, so a boat would be good.
Good to be posting again, haha. I love the Tacoma, I’ve put about 10,000 miles on it in four months.

Luckily, I’ve got 4wd haha.

I like how this looks.

Bro truck wheels suck, especially ones with fake bead locks. The only thing that makes them not the worst thing about that truck is the awful aftermarket headlamps. Get wheels that don’t suck. For example, these Level 8 MK6 that are reasonably affordable from Discount Tire Direct.

I just don’t like the way those look. They look too import sedan for my liking.

In that case do it, once I put wheels on my car I just wanna stare at it forever. If it’ll do the same thing for you than I say money well spent

I had a professor in grad school who told us to always remember that doing nothing is an option and occasionally the right one.
![]() 12/31/2017 at 18:37 |

Ok fine, pick something else non-bro. Black + fake bead locks = utter shite.
You could do something like these ATX AX201 from Tire Rack.
I couldn’t find pics of them on a Tacoma so here’s a different Toyota with them.

I call shenanigans. You can’t bro a truck that doesn’t have mirrors that flip out, which you then leave flipped out all the time.
If you’re going to do something, do it right. Start by trading your Toyota in on a
Ram
Dodge. Then unleash your inner bro.

man, I really like those - the grey on the blue and that light gold on the black look fantastic.
But if the choice is bro-truck wheels vs boat - I think I’d go with the boat.

Agree that they are looking a little dated, but I think the Sport 5 spoke wheels have been around forever too. I guess I can go from extremely dated to mildly dated wheels. Ha!
![]() 12/31/2017 at 20:45 |

Oh they’ve got 4WD covered. It won’t make your Tacoma a trophy truck but it’ll actually have some suspension that could take some bumps to say the least.
![]() 12/31/2017 at 21:10 |

They are, that’s why I’d likely get pro comp steelies or similar for my truck if I needed wider wheels, nice and cheap, just heavy. I think the SCS ones are so expensive because they’re quite light.

get the boat

Those look expensive. Moreso than bro truck wheels.

Nahhhhh
![]() 01/01/2018 at 12:43 |

They start at $174 each for 16s and go up from there. This link should hopefully show you the Tacoma size options.

I’m not a huge fan of moving to aftermarket wheels, but IMO SCS’s wheels look good on most Toyotas.

I wouldn’t go any larger than a 17" wheel, especially if you plan to air down or take it off pavement.
